The Be-200 was created on the basis of the scientific and technical groundwork obtained during the implementation of the A-40 Albatros anti-submarine amphibious aircraft program. This made it possible to obtain high flight and seaworthiness characteristics on the new machine with a significantly reduced development time and material costs due to the almost complete exclusion of experimental work on hydrodynamics and a sharp decrease in the amount of work on aerodynamics.
