This America's New Gigantic Aircraft Carrier Shocked The World

Welcome back to Us Military for a new video about : This America's New Gigantic Aircraft Carrier Shocked The World In the early 2000s, the United States government decided its current fleet of aircraft carriers were not going to be up to the task of defending American interests overseas in the decades to come. The U.S. Navy triggered an explosion near its new aircraft carrier, USS Gerald R. Ford, off the U.S. East Coast on Friday during shock trials, and the big blast registered as a 3.9 magnitude earthquake, USNI News reported, citing U.S. Geological Survey data. The U.S. government agency recorded the activity as an "experimental explosion" about 100 miles off the coast of Florida, where a Navy spokesperson confirmed to Insider the Ford is undergoing shock trials. The USS Gerald Ford was officially commissioned on July 22, 2017 in Norfolk, Virginia. Rooted in naval tradition, a commissioning is an elaborate ceremony that puts a ship in active service. Though President Trump has been critical of the ship in the past, he struck a much more inspirational tone during the ship's commissioning ceremony. American hands and American steel constructed a 100,000-ton message to the world: American might is second to none. With President Ford's daughter Susan Bales Ford giving the order on July 22 to "bring her to life," sailors aboard the USS Gerald Ford rush to man the rails -- that is, take evenly spaced positions along the sides of the ship for a salute.
